We’re planning our own wedding. It all began because we wanted to build ourselves a simple wedding site for RSVPs.

Then I realized I needed an admin panel. He laughed at me warmly, look at the real programmer, building a whole guest-management system for a tiny site. But I wanted more. I love keeping everything in order: I run huge Excel spreadsheets for our wedding finances and planning, and I dreamed of having all those crazy spreadsheets in one place, so everything would be simpler and calmer.

And then our imagination took over. We weren’t thinking about how to make a product to sell. We were thinking, as a bride and groom, about what else we’d want, what would make planning our own event easier and less stressful.

That’s how WhatsApp contact import was born, because that’s exactly how his mom sent us the contacts from her side, and we didn’t want to retype phone numbers by hand. That’s how guest relationships were born, because we didn’t want to seat every single guest manually. That’s how photo upload after the event was born, so guests could upload and later download the pictures, while we collected every photo in one place and ordered a printed album after the wedding. And so on, and so on.
